NCGR's New Professional Empowerment Program

Helping you transition into astrology as a profession.

The Professional Empowerment Program (PEP) has been set up to help you gain the knowledge and learn the skills you need in order to practice astrology as a profession. We recognize that this transition is not always an easy one as we, as astrologers, are primarily self-employed. This means that in addition to expertise in the academics of astrology, we need to have all the skills necessary to run a small business.

The Professional Empowerment Program aims to help you attain these business skills, as well as the skills necessary to be the best astrologer you can be. These include:

• Marketing and Public Relations
• Practice Building
• Accounting and Business Know-how
• Presentation Skills
• Writing and Teaching
• Research
• Consulting Skills

Right now the Professional Empowerment Committee is in the process of developing materials and programs to bring you the information you need in order to be successful as an astrologer. You will also see online articles and interviews with successful astrologers, tips on germane topics, and more, posted in a special area accessible only to members of NCGR. An important part of PEP is a Mentoring Program that will match you with seasoned professionals in your area of interest. These professionals can help you develop the skills necessary to make a living as an astrologer, whether your approach is through writing, teaching, consulting, or a combination thereof. If you have passed NCGR Level III or equivalent, you can apply to work with a mentor to hone your skills and increase your chances for success. Use the convenient application form (see sidebar on this page) to apply.
