Will Uranus In Pisces Be Our Nation's Spiritual Wake Up Call?
by Cheryl Hopkins
From March through December 2003, Uranus will make its transition from Aquarius
into Pisces. In The Astrology of Transformation, Dane Rudhyar says trans-
Saturnian planets "… operate through changes occurring in the society or culture
as a whole."1 If a planet’s transition period is the pre-show for the next
sign, then what opportunities for personal and spiritual growth as a nation will
this next act bring? How might it assist individual processes?
As a nation, we face several major hurdles: war; terrorism; damaged diplomatic
relationships; an ailing economy; effective national security; an ailing
healthcare system. Uranus in Aquarius was part of this unfolding. Planets
symbolize principles and with other planets, probable outcomes. Uranus and
Neptune in Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius has been the generational blend
ripping through the veils so we can see what is needed for spiritual well being
and how to get there.
Which Way Will We Go?
Uranus in Pisces will impact humanitarian and social values, mainstream
healthcare, our metaphysical understanding, institutions, film and music, and
oceans and the seas – to name just a few things. He will bring innovations,
improvements and upheaval. As this is a mutable water sign, a higher comfortable
level with knowing we don’t know what is going on may be a good thing.
More of us will seek our bliss, be spiritual vagabonds and go with the flow.
Personal feelings and intuition will be valued more than before. This will have
effects that are both desirable and undesirable.
That it would validate emotional and spiritual intelligence is promising. Our
civilization does tend to worship the intellect. Adherence to religious beliefs
does not imply spiritual awareness. Rebalancing these areas individually evolves
our nation’s growth. The downside will involve the appearance of more wolves in
sheep’s clothing and snake oil salesmen selling dreams. Attention and
willingness to look beneath the surface of what arises for what it can show
about self to self, is vital. But can we be unafraid of what is seen?
The Uranus into Pisces Ingress chart is erected for the White House in
Washington, DC. Effects are already evident. How interesting is it that the U.S.
became involved in a war after Uranus entered, what has been called, the
spiritual sign in the zodiac?
This transit will be the time of spiritual truths going mainstream. The first
being, that with Source we co-create our life and our nation. There is practical
logic then in seeing relationships as mirrors for what can’t readily be seen in
self, as part of this process. The major contacts between the Ingress chart and
the Gemini rising U.S. chart confirm that’s what this is all about.
Pisces Sun placed in 8th house of transformation and rebirth is the focal point
of a mutable t-square involving Pluto in Sagittarius and Saturn conjunct Moon in
Gemini. The country’s identity and future plans are being overhauled big time.
The chief executive mirrors this. We face karmic opportunities to purify the
understanding of what is the right use of power and authority. Clarity regarding
equality and value of all human’s worth without condition is in there, too.
This mutable planetary picture has Virgo in 2nd house as the open end.
Suggesting the way to handle volatile energy is with perseverance and
flexibility versus needing to be right. Also, basing self-worth on discerning
one’s abilities without demeaning another’s.
The Ingress Sun, Pluto and Saturn, Moon conjunction straddle Mars and square
Neptune in the Gemini rising U.S. chart forming a mutable grand cross. The
appetite for war in the name of freedom won’t be short-termed. Cooperative and
consistent allied support is a memory for now. The conditions and sense of
security of the people will stay in long-term flux. Are our leaders insuring
national well-being and security for the future with their choices? Will we
become wiser struggling through this energetic chrysalis? Or create more
destruction in our rebirth? We are choosing right now.
In the Ingress chart, 12th house Jupiter in Leo shows we have stores of grace
assisting our growing process. During this time we can envision our nation as
always free and prosperous and make it so. That will spawn all forms of
prosperity through the principle of like attracting like energy. Or we can be
self-centered cloaked in false pride.
Jupiter opposes the Neptune-Venus conjunction in Aquarius. At higher expression
that conjunction marries elevated personal value with detached compassion.
However, the opposition brings awareness at how extensive our religious,
political and judicial leadership has violated public trust for their gain. This
is echoed in aspects to the U.S. chart. Cherished beliefs about honor and
institutions will be in question, disillusioning the public.
Chiron in Capricorn in the Ingress chart opposes U.S. 2nd house Cancer sun and
Mercury. He also squares U.S. Chiron and Saturn forming two cardinal grand
crosses. The Ingress Moon, Saturn conjunction straddles U.S. Mars in Gemini
joining the grand trine with Aquarius Moon and Saturn in Libra. Frustration at
being inhibited in achieving goals is a vital teaching. Is authority and
thinking advancing a harmonious future vision or pushing arrogant self-
protection? In giving over our responsibility to our leaders to create the
country and future we desire, we may get what we won’t take responsibility for
personally.
Uranus in Pisces squares north and south nodes in the Ingress chart. Our
awakening will not be easy. Yet, in aspect to the U.S. chart, the North Node
conjuncts the Ascendant, indicating we have created this time to be one of
spiritual awakening to a new vision of what America can be. Our difficulty is
seeing and accepting the challenges as both karmic lessons and spiritual
teachings needed to do so.
The Dark Before Dawn
The future is not bleak. In working through our creations consciously, on an
individual and national scale, new awareness and uses for our power can be
found.
In "Conscious Evolution" Barbara Marx Hubbard quotes Dee Ward Hock the founder
of Visa, "We are at that very point in time when a 400 year old age is dying and
another is struggling to be born – a shifting of culture, science, society and
institutions enormously greater than the world has ever experienced.
Ahead, the possibility of the regeneration of individuality, liberty, community
and ethics such as the world has never known, and a harmony with nature, with
one another, and with the divine intelligence such as the world never dreamed."

America is the great experiment designed to answer the question, "Can we all
just get along?" History shows in civilizations known and speculated about we
have to start all over when we forget that is the main reason we are here.
Uranus is at the end of its trek through the zodiac. What happens now creates
the new cycle in Aries starting March 2011. Will Uranus in Pisces, Neptune in
Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius be the preview for what Dane Rudhyar says is,
"…the ‘spirit of the time’ relentlessly pushing toward a truly new state of
human existence, a state in which society and all collective factors are meant
to be only instruments making it possible for human beings to take as their most
fundamental and valuable goal fulfillment as individuals?"4
Imagine a society built on individuals consciously self-actualizing. Centered in
a spiritually based sense of personal worth and responsibility. What couldn’t
that nation do, be or create that can just be imagined now? May we all be
blessed in the great finding out.
